My name is Tony McVey, and I’m a professional sculptor and character designer with more than 35 years experience in model making for museum display, feature films and TV commercials. I spent several years as a model maker for the British Museum: Natural History in London, before moving into the film industry and working for Jim Henson Productions, Industrial Light and Magic, Warner Bros., Columbia Pictures Television, Disney, JAK Films, Electronic Arts, Atari and various others.

I’ve done character design and sculpting for Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, Superman, The Dark Crystal, Return of the Jedi, Gremlins, Howard the Duck, Star Trek 3, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Beowulf, A Christmas Carol, Mars Needs Moms and the proposed remake of The Yellow Submarine.

Additionally, I spent several years in TV commercials, involved in model and miniature construction and effects design and direction, prop building and puppet fabrication and operation, for clients including Prudential, Detroit Edison, Grey Advertising, Box Co. (Japan) and the American Cancer Society.
